Tim Clinton Selected for the 2020 Irish Legal 100
For the second year in a row, the Irish Legal 100 has selected founding partner Tim Clinton to its list of approximately 200 honorees from around the United States for 2020. According to the publisher, the Irish Legal 100 “is an annual compilation of the most distinguished legal professionals in the United States who share one common bond: pride in their Irish roots.” Tim’s selection places him among a distinguished list of attorneys, legal scholars, and members of the judiciary, including United States Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, the late Justice Anthony Kennedy, United States Ambassador to Ireland Kevin O’Malley, Georgetown Law Dean William Treanor, CBS News correspondent Erin Moriarty and many more, including attorneys from some of the country’s top legal firms. Usually, honorees are celebrated at a reception hosted by the Ambassador of Ireland to the United States, but that event was canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Whenever I am selected for an honor like this, I like to remind people that our firm’s approach to law is highly collaborative,” says Tim. “The work product that appears under my name is rarely just my own: we work together, we challenge each other’s assumptions and ideas, and we prevent each other from becoming complacent. I am happy to have been selected to the Irish Legal 100 list again this year, but I am even more grateful to be a part of such a great team of fantastic lawyers, and even better humans.”
“In much of the work we do as lawyers, we see our clients in their darkest hour; their time of greatest need,” says Tim. “They are injured, they lost a loved one, or their livelihood or even their freedom is in dire jeopardy. It takes patience, fortitude, and empathy to guide them through the process and help them understand the possible consequences of their actions—financial, emotional, and relational. The faith placed in us is a sacred burden we are honored to carry, and we should always do so with the hope and belief that our work can bend the arc of our clients’ lives closer towards justice.”
Tim is delighted that the Irish-American patriarch of his family, 95-year-old grandfather Joe Clinton, is still with us to celebrate this distinction after 77 years of marriage, distinguished service as a Navy corpsman during World War II, and a lifetime of love, hard work, and a commitment to serving others.
Tim Clinton is the founding partner of Clinton & Peed, and has a broad ranging generalist’s practice that includes both litigation and trials, as well as business and advisory matters. As for disputes, Tim is generally known as a civil rights lawyer, personal injury and medical malpractice lawyer, complex commercial and contract dispute lawyer, and criminal defense lawyer. But as a former general counsel, he also represents a select group of business clients in a semi-outside general counsel role, advising on contracts and other transactions, providing guidance on employment issues and disputes, and helping them navigate local administrative agencies.
