C&P Expands its Local Counsel Practice

In recent years, out-of-town law firms have increasingly looked to Clinton & Peed for local counsel before the federal courts of the District of Columbia and the Eastern District of Columbia, as well as the District of Columbia’s Superior Court and Court of Appeals.

This week, two cases handled by Clinton & Peed before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia reached negotiated settlements. In one case, Airbus U.S. Space & Defense agreed to pay more than $1 million to resolve a False Claims Act lawsuit initiated by relator Maros Kmec, whom Clinton & Peed represented as local counsel in support of former Covington & Burling colleague Ben Vernia of the Vernia Law Firm. In another, lead counsel Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman, PLLC of Raleigh, North Carolina negotiated resolution of claims by a former sales representative alleging various contract and quasi-contract claims against a major government contractor. Clinton & Peed’s Tim Clinton represented the plaintiff as local counsel with support from Alec Rosenberg, who clerked on that court.
