Greg Lipper Quoted in CNN Coverage of Trump Executive Privilege Lawsuit
Partner Greg Lipper is quoted by CNN in an article on former President Donald Trump’s new lawsuit seeking to assert executive privilege to prevent the National Archives from producing documents to the House select committee investigating the events of January 6.
In the article, Greg distinguishes Trump’s recent effort to block House subpoenas from the Supreme Court’s 2021 ruling on the House’s 2019 subpoena for Trump’s financial records from Mazars USA. The Mazars case was about Trump’s personal financial records; the current this one is about “documents generated by the presidency.” And in this case, said Lipper, the former president Trump “is asking the court not only to make its own determination that the documents are privileged but to override the actual, current holder of the office.”
Greg’s practice includes criminal defense, appellate and Supreme Court litigation, and First Amendment cases. In 2020, he filed a Supreme Court amicus brief, on behalf of congressional scholars, in Trump v. Mazars, the financial records case.
