As recently reported by DC-based WTOP news, our partner Greg Lipper has been appointed to represent a Black Lives Matter protester who was wrongfully arrested and is being charged with assaulting a law-enforcement officer. Our client was one of more than three-dozen protesters arrested last Thursday.

As Greg explained to WTOP,

My client not only didn’t assault anyone, let alone a police officer, but she was herself roughed up by several law enforcement officers. She was left with injuries as a result of that encounter. How that is being charged as assault on a police officer is beyond me.

As part of his diverse practice, Greg represents protesters at both trial and on appeal. More generally, he is widely considered to be an expert on both the speech and religious clauses of the First Amendment and is often consulted by reporters for articles on those topics. Greg also has a broader criminal-defense practice comprising cases in both local and federal trial and appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

In addition to our commercial and corporate work, Clinton & Peed has long handled on pro bono and court-appointed cases on behalf of indigent criminal defendants or in cases affecting civil rights and civil liberties.
