Rebecca Carter is a former big law litigator whose practice focuses on complex civil litigation, criminal defense, and transactional matters. She advises clients facing high-stakes disputes, bringing sound judgment and courtroom experience to every stage of a case.

Before joining Clinton & Peed, Rebecca practiced at Williams & Connolly and Winston & Strawn, where she represented Fortune 500 companies as well as pro bono clients in civil rights, environmental, antitrust, and complex commercial matters. She has also worked on large-scale coordinated proceedings, including Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) and Judicial Council Coordinated Proceeding (JCCP).

Early in her career, Rebecca clerked for a federal judge in Chicago.


Representative Matters*:

  • Represents commercial tenant in a quarter-billion dollar dispute with its landlord and affiliated entities.

  • Represents family and estate of individual murdered by a co-worker, in a wrongful death and survivorship matter.

  • Represents plaintiff in a complex medical malpractice action involving life-changing and debilitating injuries and what appears to be the longest-ever application of the discovery rule ever approved by the D.C. Court of Appeals for such a case.

  • Represented incarcerated client bringing excessive force claim against multiple correctional officers.*

  • Represented State of Illinois (law firm appointed as special prosecutor) in a high-profile trial in Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois concerning an alleged false report to police regarding an alleged hate crime.*

  • Represented multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company bringing patent infringement suit against competitor, at trial.*

  • Represented multi-billion dollar corporation in toxic tort MDL regarding allegations of contamination as a result of manufacturing activities.*

  • Represented rideshare company in JCCP regarding various allegations of sexual assault.*
