Christa Nicols joins Clinton & Peed as an Associate Attorney
We are thrilled to announce that Christa Nicols has joined Clinton & Peed as an associate attorney. Before joining Clinton & Peed, Christa served a litigation counsel to a national nonprofit based in Washington, DC, where she worked directly with clients and coordinated amicus curiae filings in constitutional disputes in federal and state courts across the country, including the Supreme Court of the United States. While in her previous position, Christa led drafting efforts for a major submission to the United Nations, and testified before the D.C. Council, Baltimore County Council, and both houses of the Maryland General Assembly.
Christa received her law degree from the George Washington University Law School after a first career in higher education as a software project manager and a business analyst. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, as well as a Project Management Certificate from the University of Minnesota’s College of Continuing Education. Christa set herself apart while in law school, serving as a Notes Editor for the Federal Communications Law Journal and as a member of the GW Law Moot Court Board, and winning “Best Overall” honors in the National Telecommunications Law Moot Court Competition.
She has a particular interest and passion in efforts to curb the gun-violence epidemic in this country, and co-authored an article on the topic that appeared in the November 2021 issue of the University of Minnesota Law Review, and another article soon forthcoming in the NYU Survey of American Law.
“We are all very pleased that Christa accepted our offer to join the firm as an associate attorney. She is a top-notch legal researcher and writer, she has a demonstrated capability to navigate complicated disputes involving competing interests from multiple stakeholders, and substantial experience as a voice for issues of deep public concern. Add to all this, Christa has proven her deep commitment to upholding the ideals of our profession and our firm’s longstanding commitment to excellence and integrity,” said founding partner Tim Clinton. “And perhaps most impressive, she (like me) is a Wisconsin native. In short, we feel honored and privileged that she chose to work with us, and are excited for the future.”
We are delighted that Christa has joined our team. On her first day, she has already begun work on an appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court involving novel questions about the admissibility of expert testimony, a federal criminal matter set for trial next week, and a complex consumer fraud case on behalf of plaintiffs seeking millions of dollars in damages from a prominent interior design firm.
